This Blog enthusiastically supports the individual historic land-marking of 339 West 29 Street, at the northern edge of Manhattan's Chelsea district. The groundbreaking scholarship of CUNY professor Fern Luskin has uncovered that this 1840's townhouse was once the home of a prominent nineteenth century family of abolitionists/social reformers and that the house was a stop on the "Underground Railroad". The block where the house is located is a proposed Historic District which we also support.
